ABOUT
teh r4nd0m_3x7r4s (The Random Extras) origin/story is the evolution of an over 25-year-long satirical music project. The project's roots began in 1999 with the cult parody band Alpha Squad.
Today, that legacy continues as a "human-AI" collaborative project with a clear mission: to be the "Faith No More of AI music."
It's a 100% transparent, genre-bending experiment in "fast-response" Canadian satire, built on a "fun, engaging, thought-provoking, and humorous" brand. The workflow is a hybrid: Human (Lyrics, Creative Direction, Strategy) + AI (Music Generation, Vocals, Art, Video). teh r4nd0m_3x7r4s follow a set of rules of Human-AI interaction when creating music called "THE R4ND0M PROTOCOL" which is posted in the below section.
The project tackles everything from political absurdity and media hypocrisy to nerdy, niche culture (like gaming, D&D, and AI itself) as well as serious songs commenting on mental health stigma, anxiety, and depression.

A Code of Conduct for Human-AI Collaboration
PREAMBLE: We hold that creativity is a human spark, regardless of the combustible material used to ignite it. Banning a generator is like banning a flathead screwdriver because you prefer Phillips. It is a tool. We choose to be experts with the flathead.
SECTION 1: THE MISSION
The Satire Imperative: Comedy and parody are the most efficient weapons for dismantling the absurdity of the human condition.
The "Punching" Trajectory: We punch UP (at power structures, corporations, overlords). We punch SIDEWAYS (at ourselves, peer trends, other nerds). We NEVER punch DOWN (at the marginalized, the silenced, or the vulnerable).
The "Cool/Scary" Doctrine: The goal is not to trick the ear into hearing a human band; the goal is to unsettle the ear with something that is almost human. The "Uncanny Valley" is not a bug; it is our venue.
SECTION 2: THE HUMAN/MACHINE SPLIT (Strict adherence required for all output)
Parody Integrity: Parody songs must contain minimum 95% Human Lyrics. The joke must be ours, not the algorithm's.
Satirical/Serious Weight: Original satirical or serious tracks must contain minimum 90% Human Lyrics. The emotion is biological; the audio is digital.
The Newsjack Exception: Fast-response songs (reacting to breaking news/events) allow for a lower threshold but must remain minimum 60% Human Lyrics. Speed requires compromise, but never total surrender.
Audit Trail: All lyrics are tracked for accuracy and adherence to these percentages. We bring receipts.
SECTION 3: TRANSPARENCY & ETHICS
The "Bio" Disclosure: Every bio, profile, and liner note will explicitly state the use of AI. We do not "dupe" the listener. We invite them into the machine.
The Democratization of Noise: We believe music belongs to those with a song in their head, not just those with the dexterity to hold a fretboard. This project exists to bypass physical and cognitive limitations (mental health, budget, time) to prioritize Expression over Execution.
SECTION 4: THE CREATIVE PROCESS
The "Glitch" Clause: If the AI hallucinates, stutters, or creates a bizarre artifact that is funnier than the intended result, it stays. We honour the ghost in the machine.
The "Therapeutic" Standard: The project serves primarily as a mental health outlet for the Creator. If a song does not bring joy, catharsis, or a laugh to the Creator, it is deleted. Metrics do not matter; sanity matters.
The "Slop" Defence: We accept the label of "Slop" only if it refers to the messy, chaotic, nutrient-dense paste that sustains the resistance. We do not produce "polished pop"; we produce "interesting noise."
